ePrime Congratulates CDB HK Branch’s 1st Offshore RMB Bond Issuance in Macao

4 February 2026

ePrime Issuance Service congratulates China Development Bank Hong Kong Branch‘s successful dual-tranche 3 and 5 year offshore RMB bond issuance totaling RMB 5.5 billion on 27 January 2026. The main participating institutions in the above bond issuances completed bookbuilding, order allocation, and pricing smoothly through ePrime Issuance Service.

The transaction raised RMB 3.5 billion for the 3-year tranche at 1.75% and the 5-year tranche raised RMB 2 billion at 1.85%. It marks the first policy bank public bond issued in Macao, as well as the first “Belt and Road” and Portuguese-speaking countries/regions themed bond issued by China Development Bank Hong Kong Branch in the city, supporting Macao’s role as a China-Portugal financial services platform and its participation in the Belt and Road Initiative.

In recent years, China Development Bank Hong Kong Branch has actively promoted the development of offshore RMB issuance projects, supporting the development of the offshore RMB market. This bond issuance broadened the variety of bonds in Macao’s offshore RMB market. It also exemplifies the synergistic benefits arising from the coordinated development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and further advances the internationalisation of the RMB. It also marks another milestone in the cooperation between Bond Connect Company Limited ("BCCL") and China Development Bank Hong Kong Branch. Moving forward, BCCL remains committed to furthering promoting the development of the offshore RMB bond market.

In collaboration with CFETS and launched in 2020, ePrime is an electronic solution for the primary bond market across the issuers, underwriters and investors specialized in the China cross-border workflow. It has two components to cater issuance and subscription applications: ePrime Issuance Service and ePrime Northbound Subscription Service.

ePrime Issuance Service offers a platform for issuing, primary book building, pricing and allocation for offshore securities including US dollar-denominated bonds, Renminbi bonds, Hong Kong dollar bonds and other currencies. It has successfully supported various issuances from policy banks and commercial banks and onboarded 44 offshore underwriters.
